I wanted a prob for checking surfaces for slight deviations from flat. I poked around online and couldn’t find anything reasonable. So I made one from a broken endmill and a micro-switch.

I tried to use a dremel cutoff wheel to square the point of the end-mill. No go. They are super hard steel. I wound up using a grinder.
