I just got this microscope in yesterday. It’s for general purpose but especially looking at circuits and electronic components.

Yay I can finally read those little numbers on components! 🙂

It works great (for 32 bucks). I was out at a meetup yesterday and noticed Aaron had a similar one but had made an improved stand for it.

So here’s my design for a new stand.

The difficulty with the stands they come with is they have enough ballast to hold the weight of the microscope. But I figured it’s always used in conjunction with a computer. So why not use the computer as a ballast and make the outfit lighter?

The stand works great. It was a little bouncy so I added a stiffener to the main arm.
